Service

Social ministry is the call given to all Christians by our Lord.  Service to others becomes the natural result of faithful worship.  We strive to live out this vocational call to service in our daily lives.

The Service Commitee seeks to develop and strengthen a congregational climate in which social ministry can happen at the local, national, and international level.

In our own congregation, we serve one another by coordinating and planning meals to follow funeral services.  We also collect canned goods for Baskervill Food Pantry and support the Waccammaw Neck Ministerial Outreach for those in need.

To help feed children in our own community, we have established a Backpack Buddies ministry that provides weekend lunches - packed right here at St. Peter's - to distribute to 150 elementary school students.

We also seek to connect St. Peter's to larger ministries through ELCA World Hunger, ELCA Disaster Relief, Lutheran World Relief, the Red Cross, Food for the Poor, and other organizations and agencies seeking to serve those in need throughout the world.
