Committees of St. Peter's
St. Peter's exists to share the light and love of Jesus Christ in Pawleys Island and beyond. We relate to the community around us in a variety of ways. We hope to bring others to know Jesus' love at St. Peter's, and we strive to share that love beyond our own walls to those in need.
The Community Relations Committee seeks to actively welcome visitors, follow-up with visitors, and welcome new members into our congregation.
This committee also seeks to share God's love by partnering with community organizations to help meet their needs. Our ministries include outreach through our One Starry Night event and Live Nativity in December and hosting Red Cross Blood Drives.
-Larry Schaap (Treasurer)
-Jane Kohler (Financial Secretary)
The Finance Committee oversees the financial well-being of the congregation. This committee works closely with the other ministries of St. Peter's to ensure that resources are available and that ministries can grow.
The Property Committee is responsible for the maintenance, protection, use and care of all property of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Our job is to keep our building and grounds in great shape so that ministries can thrive.
The Staff Support Committee provides support and oversight for the pastor and staff of St. Peter's.
Stewardship is central to Christian discipleship. We believe that God has blessed each of us with gifts of time, talent, and treasure. We further believe that God desires us to use those gifts in worship of God in in loving service toward one another.
As part of our life of stewardship at St. Peter's, we conduct an annual program to help people identify how their time and talent can be used at St. Peter's and beyond.
We also conduct an annual stewardship campaign to encourage and enable members to make financial commitments to our shared ministry.
Stewardship is not just about annual drives, however. Stewardship describes who we are: the gifted people of God seeking to love and serve the One from whom all blessings flow.

As sisters and brothers in Christ, we believe it is vital to gather together in activities that promote a sense of fellowship and community. As we grow closer to one another, we grow closer to the God who brings us together.
Long Range Planning
The Long Rage Planning Committee is tasked with the ongoing work of discerning the vision and mission of St. Peter's, identifying the foci of our ministry, and working to ensure that our physical needs match the ministry needs of the congregation.
Worship & Music
- Barbara Marshall
The Service Committee seeks to develop and strengthen a congregational climate in which social ministry can happen at the local, national, and international level.
Social ministry is the call given to all Christians by our Lord. Service to others becomes the natural result of faithful worship. We strive to live out this vocational call to service in our daily lives. In our own congregation, we serve one another by coordinating and planning meals to follow funeral services. We also collect canned goods for Baskervill Food Pantry and support the Waccamaw Neck Ministerial Outreach for those in need.
We pack lunches once a month for children in our area who might be hungry over the weekend.
We have a great group of volunteers and we are always looking for more help!
On Tuesdays, we pack for Waccamaw Schools in Heinecke Hall at St. Peter's. On Wednesdays, we pack lunches at the elementary school in Plantersville.
Other Ministries - Near and Far
We also seek to connect St. Peter's to larger ministries through ELCA World Hunger, ELCA Disaster Relief, Lutheran World Relief, the Red Cross, Food for the Poor, and other organizations and agencies seeking to serve those in need throughout the world.
